Her diet was always good, but her aunt and grandmother both got it at about the same age, thus I KNOW it must have a genetic trigger or she is predisposed, whateva or either but diet did not stop it from coming. She always ate a green diet as she new her family history.

Mikey, i am a bit insulted at your 'just eating more salads' statment, she is a friend of The Nut Lady and no i will not list her diet, lets just say she lives by the 20%/80% diet prolly closer to  5%/95% (thats normal/green)

The trouble with both conventional and alternative methods is you only ever hear about the success, never the failures and it applies to both.

I have a problem with the moderation theory too. There are things we should never put in our bodies, in moderation or any other way.  Many people would rather face death than change their shitty diets. I have seen a few examples of this. It is hard to get people to just stop and take a good look at what they are eating because they don't want to change a lifetime of habits. For most, eating is about pleasing their tastebuds not their nutritional needs. I have never felt healthier in my life personally since going Vegan, I am 70% raw and hoping to make it all the way sometime soon.

I Did not mean to insult you,

It was just meant to point out that if you ask most people they would say they eat healthy because they don't know what healthy is. Most think eating dairy and wheat is very healthy which we know is not the case.

So she is doing 80 10 10 or Low fat cooked vegan (gluten free) and this is the way she was eating before getting the cancer?

I totally agree that she has a predisposition to cancer and this is genetic but for most whether you get it or not has to do with diet, or some exposure to toxins.

You mentioned she is doing better these days is the cancer stable? what did she do for alternative?

You don't hear about conventional because they don't want people to know much alot easier that way.
The reason you don't hear about alternative is there is no big company backing any alternative because none of it makes much money except for maybe doing oxygen therapy. I cured 38 years of depression the guy I know stage 4 cancer now 8 years still alive nobody is able to shout from the mountain tops, I wish I could. Look at all the videos of testimonials why is no one heard of them on the news. I am sure for some alternative some may not work for whatever reason but that also depends on what was the alternative and how well it was followed

Well i have been to China and spent some time there and i can tell you they are NOT vegan. Infact meat such as yack, pork, fish, eel meat, chicken are a stable part of their diet and would constitute about 50% of the meal serving. Yes they are mixed with a lot of green uncooked and cooked vegies, but to think they are or ever were vegan is a mistake commonly made by westerners due to folk lore.

Their diet is void of a lot of packaged food, sugars, persevatives, additives, etc and i think that is more likely the reason than any thing else

Just a quick web search shows many problems with vegan diets, such as the requirement by some to have regular injections to lift certain vitamin levels to avoid damage to the nevous system aka my wifes vegan yoga teacher (injections being completely natural....*cough*)

here are a few Links to a few stories

And i could probably find many more as i know you can find ones to support your beliefs, but whats the point?

My point being is that i think that some people get a little zealous in there approach, aka the biggest relegious zealots are usually born again ones, the biggest anti smoking zealots are the ex-smokers. I know a lot of vegans who dont push there own beliefs so vigorously.

I for one would not be able to survive on that type of diet, i would rather die than have to eat like that, but thats me. Raw veges attracts me to eating about as much as the plague did to a 16th century european.

(injections being completely natural....*cough*)

And you are living completely *cough* naturally are you Mikey? ;)  You must remember we all live in an unnatural World, I'm not prepared to ditch my home, clothes, computer, bike, bed and live like a penniless sadhu are you?

It sounds like you have never 'met your meat' or visited a slaughterhouse right? It's so easy to sit back in the comfort of our arm chair and pretend we are informed, when really we just are ignorant. We pay the butcher to do the dirty work for us and then we put down caring people who actually want to make the World a better place for all inhabitants.

The longest study ever done (27 yrs) on human nutrition is the China Project conducted by T. Colin Campbell, Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University~ a survey that studied the relationship between mortality rates and the dietary, lifestyle, and environmental factors of some 6,500 people in 65 mostly rural counties in China.  Their findings? That a low fat vegan lifestyle best serves human health and that fruits and vegetables are the most optimal food for humans. Now this is not some wishy washy study. This study is extensively peer reviewed, so much so that it is corroborated by 300 other studies.

"The one thing an animal-based diet does best is kill people. It does this by restricting the flow of blood and oxygen throughout the body. Deprive the heart of oxygen, you get a heart attack. Deprive the brain of oxygen, you get a stroke. Deprive your tissues and cells of oxygen and you set up the underlying cause of all cancers."

Dr Caldwell Esselstyn is one of the worlds leading authorities on heart disease reversal and he recommends a low fat vegan diet. He has conducted the LONGEST and most successful heart disease reversal program ever.

I'm going with the Worlds leading Authorities on the subject. This may sound tough and that's because there isn't really any other way to talk about it. We have an epidemic on our hands and if you ignore their words you will become just another statistic and check off early from a preventable disease like the rest of the sickly population. It seems you may not care about your health or the state of the Planet but I certainly do. We must remember future generations need to live somewhere after we die.  Here are some stats about what your meat eating contributes to...Talk about unnatural.

* Fossil fuels needed to produce meat-centered diet vs. a meat-free diet: 3 times more

* Percentage of U.S. topsoil lost to date: 75%

* Percentage of U.S. topsoil loss directly related to livestock raising: 85%

* Number of acres of U.S. forest cleared for cropland to produce meat-centered diet: 260 million

* Amount of meat imported to U.S. annually from Central and South America: 300,000,000 pounds

* Percentage of Central American children under the age of five who are undernourished: 75%

* Area of tropical rainforest consumed in every quarter-pound of rainforest beef: 55 square feet

*Current rate of species extinction due to destruction of tropical rainforests for meat grazing and other uses: 1,000 per year

* Percentage of U.S. farmland devoted to beef production: over 60%

* User of more than half of all water used for all purposes in the U.S.: livestock production

* Amount of water used in production of the average cow: sufficient to float a destroyer

* Gallons of water needed to produce a pound of wheat: 25

* Gallons of water needed to produce a pound of California beef: 5,000

* Years the world’s known oil reserves would last if every human ate a meat-centered diet: 13

*Years they would last if human beings no longer ate meat: 260

*Calories of fossil fuel expended to get 1 calorie of protein from beef: 78

* To get 1 calorie of protein from soybeans: 2

* Percentage of all raw materials (base products of farming, forestry and mining, including fossil fuels) consumed by U.S. that is devoted to the production of livestock: 33 %

* Percentage of all raw materials consumed by the U.S. needed to produce a complete vegetarian diet: 2%

* There were an estimated ten million Indians living in the Amazonian Rainforest five centuries ago. Today there are less than 200,000 due to the meat and dairy industry greed for land.

Hey Mike G,
When it comes to Vitamin b12 people eating meat are at the same, if not more of a risk than Vegans.
Recent studies A tufts University Study in Boston found that not only was low B-12 levels common in the entire population but 39% of Americans were actually b12 deficient. Even though these individuals were eating as much as 3 times the recommended daily intake. There was also a large scale Framingham Offspring Study that found nearly 40% of participants between the ages of 26-83 had low b12 levels ~ a level in which some people experience neurological symptoms. Scary. Again vegans and vegetarians are routinely tested but people eating animal bits and pieces are not. When they are, then the truth comes out that b12 deficiency is not at all exclusive to a plant-centred lifestyle like ‘they’ would have you believe.
Unfortunately some people (even Dr’s receiving kickbacks) continue to listen to, and parrot the Meat and Dairy Industry recommendations. They would have you believe you need to eat animals for b12, when on the contrary in excess of 99% of those who are b12 deficient are actually eating carcass, bovine secretion and chicken menses. The problem is that people eating these animal substances have not *ever* been routinely (or accurately) tested for b12 deficiency.
However, (from M & D Industry education) if you say you’re a vegan, they jump on you straight away with a b12 test! Clever Industry persuasion. Which then of course makes Vegans/Vegetarians appear to be the most deficient. Fortunately this is changing and recently more animal eaters are being tested and honestly, the results have been alarming. Inaccurate testing measures and a lack of Dr training about the importance of b12 is a source of frustration for many experts in the field. Serum B12 (the standard test) can and does fail to detect a deficiency. Urinary MMA and Homocysteine tests need to be taken as well to rule out a deficiency.
To add to the insult for cooked fooders, much of the b12 ingested is rendered useless due to it being a heat-sensitive vitamin. As much as 89% of the vitamin is destroyed when we cook it. That is HUGE but even considering this fact, the raw meat eaters STILL have consistently low b12 levels. If some b12 does ‘get through’ most people then cannot absorb or utilise. This makes for a lot of deficiencies. If the intrinsic factor is impaired or missing, B12 production and absorption will not take place, no matter how much is in your meat, seafood, dairy, and eggs. In our modern society, this means just about everyone may be deficient. Every second person has gastrointestinal issues of some sort being ~ Crohn’s, IBS, celiac disease. These malabsorption issues are brought about by a vast number of factors including poor diets high in vitamin-blocking fat and animal products, recreational/ prescription drug use, antacid use, any surgery (including dental) that exposes us to nitrous oxide (an anaesthetic used for operations), alcoholism, pernicious anemia, autoimmune disorders. The list goes on. Basically you are likely to have compromised absorption and be b12 deficient if you have ever had an operation (including dental work), eaten the Standard Western Diet, taken drugs of any sort, or have an inherited weakness. Birth control pills are also a common culprit in depleting B12 stores and compromising absorption.
Whats your b12 level Mike G?

Hi Frelee,

I think you got me and Mike G mixed up. No problemo

lol sorry Mikey :D  It seems I did!

'And you are living completely *cough* naturally are you Mikey? ;)  You must remember we all live in an unnatural World, I'm not prepared to ditch my home, clothes, computer, bike, bed and live like a penniless sadhu are you? '

Where did i say i ever was?  You must be seeing things... Do you know how much electricity and resources go into providing the making and running of all that ? If not read your list above i am sure some of it applies

'It sounds like you have never 'met your meat' or visited a slaughterhouse right?' I got this far and lost interest once you started to try to tell me where and what i have been and done...My family comes from the country...so yes i have...

And no i am not living a completley natural life, but i am not trying to fool myself in to thinking i am any better than someone else because of choices i make.

The world is over populated to a large degree and thus all the forests/etc are turned to land to feed cattle, etc.. and it will get worse

and Mikey

I dont know my B12 lvl..but after blood tests a few years ago there was no problem, i have never needed any vitamin shots..so i guess it's fine and i am not on the pill! And i wasn't listening to so called Meat & Dairy Assoc. experts..i simply asked my doctor is there many vegans he see's who require shots..he answered my question with a yes..and no more.

I just love how defensive you all become, might be the sign of a low vitamin count!

I dont care to be here forever..the beds in hospices are full of old people with either strong bodies and weak minds or strong minds and weak bodies that linger for years yearning for death to come..i would perfer to die with some dignity and not be a bother to people by holding on to something that is inevitable and will end..life.

I started this out by just answering a question Mikey G placed...and somehow it has turned out to be a debate on Vegan V's  Traditional diet. All i ever stated was that YES some diseases may be caused by diet BUT it's not the always the ONLY reason i never started out saying anymore. But the more you jump on me the more i feel like you are convincing yourselfs more than trying to convince me.

Are you talking to me? you should be addressing Freelee not me  I gave up on this discussion a while ago no point, please address the right person next time.

Hey Mikey,

To your original question about radiation, Dr. Doug says something similar about radiation in the atmosphere from nuclear testing and bombing in his talk here, sorry I don't know at what point.

I couldn't agree more!

The Nut Lady said:

Personally it is my belief that people who eat the SAD diet leave themselves open to the effects of radiation and many other things because their Immune System is compromised severely. I think diet is of major importance in any disease.
